VFW Post 5151's Sr. Vice Chuck Stricker has been running Operation Airlift for the Last 11 years of it’s 21-year existence. Operation Airlift sends care packages to our military members not just deployed to combat zones but those in generally austere environments for longer than a short Temporary Duty 30-60 days.
Currently, Chuck finds himself with plenty of stuff to send, but no one to send it to…. The Any Soldier website has closed. And with OPSEC being a key requirement to sending "Any Soldier" addressed packages, We need names. We have troops all over the planet and not all of them have the ability to run down to the store and get munchies or personal hygiene items.
We are asking each of you to go back to your respective Posts and reach out to your communities, churches and other local organizations. If anyone has a family member, friend, neighbor that is Serving our country in uniform and would like for them to get a "care package". Once names come in to us, we usually have a package out by that Friday. We also send Notes and cards that come from local schools and Local women's groups to let the recipient know that we are thinking of them.
