James Walter Sobeski, 89, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 4, 2023, surrounded by his loving wife, Claire, of 68 years and his four children Barb (Frank) May, James (Patty) Sobeski, Carole (Ron) Lanier, and Tom (Shantell) Sobeski. He is survived by his sister KathySobeski, along with 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. James was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Esther Sobeski of Elmwood Park, his sister Betty Link, and his grandson Stephen James Sobeski. 

James joinedthe Marines in 1952 and proudly served his country for the next 3 years. He fought in the Korean War as a  sergeant where he received various awards as well as the purple heart. He was an activemember of the VFW and the Veterans MemorialCommission. He represented the Marinesin community events, memorial services, parades and flag rotation ceremonies.

After his military service, Jim worked for Illinois Bell for several years. He then worked for Skrudland Photo Service for the majority of his working career. He reallyenjoyed his last job as an electrical inspector for the Village of Streamwood.

He accepted Christ as his personal. Lord and Savior as a ,child and faithfully lived that legacy as a husband and father. He led family devotions and passed on godly values to his children. Jim was a great man, devoted to the Lord and his family to the very end. Jim lived each day fully and was welcomed into heavenhearing the words "Well done, good and faithful servant" He will be greatly missed.

There will be a graveside memorial service to remember the life of Jim Sobeski on Friday, June 9, 2023, at 11:00 AM. The grave is located on the east side of the cemetery (to the right as you enter).
